Under the leadership of Genghis Khan (fl. 1200) and his descendants, the Mongol empire brought almost all of Eurasia--including China, Central Asia, India, the Islamic world, and Russia--under its control. After a survey of the explosive rise and abrupt fall of the Mongols, we will use modern scholarship and contemporary observers to explore the impact of Mongol rule on its constituent domains and the significance of the Mongol empire in world history. |
